What is Suggest A Title (SAT)?

Suggest A Title (SAT) is a service that allows patrons to suggest titles not owned by Loudoun County Public Library to be considered for purchase. The first step before submitting an SAT is to check the LCPL catalog to verify that the library, in fact, does not own the item.

What happens after I make my suggestion?

Suggestions will be reviewed based on the Library's Collection Development Policy (available through the Library Policy link on the LCPL homepage). This policy includes consideration of an item's intrinsic merit, critical reviews, availability, subject treatment, budget, and contribution to a balanced collection in the Library system.

If the suggested item is purchased, you will receive an email stating that the item will be added to the collection.

If the suggested item is not purchased, you will receive an email stating that the item will not be added to the collection and explaining the reason. In that case you may choose to request an Interlibrary Loan (ILL) for items older than six months.

How many submissions may I have at one time?

You may have 5 active submissions at one time. Please note that this limit applies to a combination of both Suggest A Title submissions and Interlibrary Loan requests.

What if my library card number changes?

If you have a new LCPL card number please re-register with this system. Please email interlibraryloan@loudoun.gov with your new library card number. Your old account information will be merged with your new information, allowing any outstanding SAT submissions and ILL requests to be included in your new account.
